Welcome Student Bookkeepers

The Institute of Professional Bookkeepers of Canada (IPBC) is the largest bookkeeping association in Canada and we have expanded our membership by introducing a new student bookkeeper membership. Student members will be part of a professional well respected association that will help them towards getting their certification and provide them with the ongoing support they need throughout their career.

To qualify for an IPBC student membership you must be enrolled in bookkeeping courses or be a recent graduate and have less than 2 years bookkeeping experience.

Students can now enroll as IPBC members and utilize all of the benefits available to our bookkeeper members.  Students will have access to member libraries, upcoming and archived webinars, member forums, our new Career Center, special discounts from our partners and a lot of other relevant information they need while enrolled in their bookkeeping courses.

Student members are eligible to take our Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) exam after passing their bookkeeping courses.
Upon successfully passing the CPB exam, students will have completed the first phase of certification, the academic requirement.

The second phase is to fulfill the 2 year work experience requirement.  After working full time in the bookkeeping profession, students must provide a letter of reference confirming their experience to receive their CPB certificate, and have access to the CPB logos and they will be required to upgrade their membership to a bookkeeper member.

Students who have successfully passed the exam must also follow the 20 continuing education credits required annually during their two year work experience phase of certification. Student members will have access to the IPBC on-line weekly webinars and regional meetings in their area which may also qualify as CE credits.

All students must be a member in good standing and follow the IPBC Code of Conduct.

Please Contact Us if you have any questions.

The IPBC is dedicated to developing greater educational excellence, career opportunities,
and recognition for the bookkeeping profession across Canada.
