Tiers Membership

The IPBC tiered pathway to certification allows individuals to develop and build a career in bookkeeping and to join the IPBC at any stage of their career path. Our Tier Membership expands the pathway for Members from both an academic and experience level which provides two methods of obtaining our Certified Professional BookkeeperTM - CPB designation through either an:

1) EDUCATIONAL PATHWAY this path requires fulfilling the pre-requisite requirements for each Tier before moving on to the next, and is designed for those who have recently graduated from a bookkeeping program but have little or no work-experience.

2) EXPERIENCE PATHWAY this path acknowledges bookkeepers who have a certain level of experience and obtained skill sets through on-the-job training, and is designed to assess the bookkeeper’s knowledge through an online test(s) based on the number of years of work experience they have in the bookkeeping and accounting field.

Select the Tiers Membership that best reflects your pathway. Should your education and experience not meet a Tier Membership you may join at the Basic Membership level and move through the Tiers over time. The IPBC will review your application within two business days and email you a free assessment test associated to your Membership application. Tier 1, 2 and 3 non invigilated on-line tests should be completed within thirty days of submitting your membership application and supporting documents.

Tier 1, 2 and 3 membership applications will be approved upon receipt of the required supporting documentation and you must have a passing grade of 80% or better on the Tier assessment test. In the event you do not pass the test associated with your initial membership, the IPBC will email you the test for the next level down and adjust membership dues once your membership Tier is established.

*Tier 3 applicants must meet the Tier 3 requirements and successfully pass the Tier 3 test before being eligible to challenge the Tier 4 CPB Exam.

*Industry (accountants) and full time Student membership applications may be submitted using the Join Now options below.
